Rohit Sharma suffered a new low in his Test career after his cheap dismissal against Australia on Friday (December 27).
The Indian captain, who was expected to lead from the front, has managed to score a meagre 22 runs in four innings so far.

His latest failure came in the Melbourne Test, where he was dismissed for just 3 runs, compounding India's top-order woes. A short ball from Pat Cummins was not dealt well by the India captain, whose attempted pull shot only found a top edge and Scott Boland completed a simple catch.
The series began on a disappointing note for Rohit in Adelaide, where he was dismissed cheaply for 3 and 6. Hopes of a resurgence in Brisbane were dashed when he added just 10 runs. He played in the middle-order in his first two matches of the series, but the poor run has continued in Melbourne despite promoting himself at the top of the order.
With the Melbourne knock, Rohit Sharma has now dropped to a new low in Test cricket. The India captain's average against Australia has gone below 30, as he now averages 29.20 against the Aussies.
In 15 matches (26 innings), Rohit has only managed 730 runs against Australia. Strikingly, the 37-year-old hasn't scored 50+ runs against them in 11 innings. Apart from that, Rohit is hovering around 25 when it comes to his batting average on Australian soil. The India skipper has managed 430 runs across 18 innings in Australia, with his highest score being just 63.
