Rohit Sharma equalled Chris Gayle's record for second-most ODI sixes at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Wednesday, August 7. Rohit Sharma has hit 331 ODI sixes to his name in just 257 innings.
West Indies great Chris Gayle finished his ODI career with 331 sixes in 294 innings. Current Sri Lanka's interim head coach Sanath Jayasuriya is third on the list with 270 sixes in 433 innings, and former India captain MS Dhoni fourth with 229 maximums in 297 innings.

Rohit Sharma once again got off to a solid start in the third ODI against Sri Lanka. He scored 35 runs off 20 balls. The innings consisted of six fours and a six. The 37-year-old is now 21 sixes short of breaking Shahid Afridi's record for most sixes in ODI cricket. The former Pakistan captain smashed 351 sixes in 369 innings.
Talking about the match, the Indian batting unit collapsed once again after the departure of their captain Rohit Sharma, who smashed fifties in the last two ODI.
In the first ODI, India openers partnered for 75 runs before getting bundled out for 230 and ending the match in a tie. In the second ODI, Rohit and Shubman Gill stitched a 97-run stand before India got all-out for 208 while chasing 241.
In the third and decisive ODI, India were reduced to 101/8 after Rohit's departure in the eight over (53/2). India were on the cusp of their first bilateral ODI series defeat against Sri Lanka since 1997.
