Indian captain Rohit Sharma returned to form emphatically, scoring a scintillating 119 runs off 90 balls to lead India to a six-wicket victory over England in the second ODI at Cuttack's Barabati Stadium on Sunday (February 9).
The Indian captain was in ominous touch, playing a sublime knock to return back to form after a lean patch. With the victory, India also sealed the series win over England, a much-needed one ahead of the Champions Trophy.

Rohit was ecstatic after his hundred and to be honest, relieved as well. The India captain spoke at the post-match presentation and talked about countering the England bowlers.
"It was good and I really enjoyed being out there, scoring some runs for the team. Important game with the series on the line but I broke it down to pieces about how I wanted to bat. I wanted to bat as deep as possible and that was my focus. Then they bowled into the body and kept it on the stumps and that's where I prepared my plan and tried to access the gaps," Rohit said.
The fantastic knock not only marked his 32nd ODI century but also saw him surpass the legendary Sachin Tendulkar in three significant milestones.
With this century, Rohit has now accumulated 36 international centuries since turning 30, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's record of 35 centuries in this age bracket.
In addition to his century tally, Rohit also set a new benchmark for Indian openers by recording his 121st fifty-plus score in international cricket, surpassing Tendulkar's previous record of 120 such scores.
Rohit Sharma now has 15404 runs as an opener across formats for India, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar who had 15335 runs. Rohit is second in the list as Virender Sehwag holds the top spot with 15758 runs.
Rohit's innings in Cuttack was characterized by a blend of elegance and aggression, as he reached his century in just 76 balls, the second-fastest of his ODI career.
