Rohit Sharma & Harmanpreet Kaur Conferred With Padma Shri For Their Outstanding Contributions In Cricket
Former Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma and Indian women's cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur have been conferred with the Padma Shri on May 25. Both cricketers were awarded these prestigious titles in recognition of their contributions to Indian cricket and international success with the national team.
Talking about Harmanpreet Kaur's achievement in the field of cricket, the BCCI said that Kaur was "one of the most dynamic and impactful cricketers of her generation" and credited her with leading India to its "historic first Women's Cricket World Cup title".

Rohit Sharma International Career
Rohit Sharma, the former India captain, is now active only in ODI cricket, having stepped away from Test and T20 International formats. Over the course of his career, he has played 67 Tests, 282 ODIs and 159 T20 Internationals. In the longest format, he accumulated 4,301 runs with the help of 12 centuries and 18 fifties. In ODIs, the "Hitman" has scored 11,577 runs, registering 33 hundreds and 61 half-centuries. In T20Is, he added 4,231 runs to his tally, including 5 centuries and 32 fifties.
Harmanpreet Kaur International Career
Harmanpreet Kaur has played 7 Test matches, 164 ODIs and 195 T20 Internationals for India in her career so far. She has scored 230 runs in Tests, including a single fifty. In ODIs, she has amassed 4,541 runs, with 7 centuries and 24 half-centuries to her name. In T20 Internationals, she has contributed 3,991 runs, which includes 1 hundred and 16 fifties.
Rohit Sharma Missed Padma Awards Ceremony
Fans were expecting Rohit Sharma to attend the award ceremony after his inclusion in the Padma Shri list announced on Republic Day earlier this year. However, when President Droupadi Murmu conferred the honours at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on May 25, the Indian skipper was not among those present.
His absence soon drew attention on social media, with many questioning why he did not appear alongside the other awardees. There is no controversy behind it, though.
The Padma awards are presented across multiple ceremonies, with recipients scheduled in different batches depending on logistics and availability. This means some awardees receive their honours at later events.
Rohit had earlier acknowledged the recognition in January, posting a video expressing his gratitude to the Government of India and fans for honouring his contributions to cricket.
