ICC World Cup 2023: Rohit Sharma surpasses Sachin Tendulkar on most centuries list in 50-over WC
Rohit Sharma announced his form early in the ICC World Cup 2023 as the Indian surpassed legendary Sachin Tendulkar on the most century list in a 50-over WC with a ton off just 63 deliveries against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday (October 11).
While this was the fastest century by an Indian at the World Cup, Rohit Sharma moved ahead of Sachin Tendulkar as the lone man in the lead with seven centuries in the World Cup of the 50-over format.

Rohit Sharma went on to slam an 84-ball 131, laced with 16 fours and five sixes, before getting bowled by Rashid Khan in the 26th over. By the time of his dismissal, India were 205/4 and needed just 62 runs to seal consecutive wins at the ICC World Cup 2023. Earlier in the game, Afghanistan opted to bat first and posted at 271/8 on the board in their full quota of 50 overs. Skipper Hasmatullah Shahidi led from the front with a knock of 80 runs while Azmatullah Omarzai (62) as the duo stitched 121 runs for the fourth wicket. Jasprit Bumrah bowled his best spell at the ICC World Cup 2023 at 4/39 as he picked three quick wickets in the slog over to stop Afghanistan from reach 300.
