The buzz around the cricketing corridors of Mumbai has reached fever pitch as the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officially announced India’s skipper and Mumbai’s pride, Rohit Sharma, as the face of the much-anticipated T20 Mumbai League Season 3.
Slated to begin on 26 May, the league makes a grand return after a six-year hiatus, promising an electrifying celebration of the city’s unmatched cricketing culture.

The announcement, made at a glittering press conference in Mumbai, saw Rohit Sharma take centre stage alongside MCA President Ajinkya Naik, members of the Apex and League Governing Councils, and newly inducted franchise operators. Adding more glamour to the occasion, Rohit also unveiled the dazzling new trophy for Season 3 — a symbol of the league's rebirth and its renewed commitment to grassroots talent.
Rohit’s association with the T20 Mumbai League marks a full-circle moment for the city’s cricketing poster boy. Having honed his skills on Mumbai’s legendary maidans, Sharma's rise from humble beginnings to captaining India to World Cup glory is a tale etched in inspiration. His presence as the league's ambassador is expected to ignite passion not only among fans but also within the hearts of the thousands of young cricketers eyeing their big break.
“Our domestic structure has always been the foundation of Indian cricket’s success. Leagues like T20 Mumbai play a significant role in that journey. They serve as platforms that uncover new talent and provide young players with the exposure they need. Mumbai has a rich cricketing legacy, and we’ve seen some incredible players emerge from here. It’s great to see the league’s return, and I’m excited to be a part of it. I’d encourage every youngster to grab this opportunity and leave their mark. I’m confident the third season will be a memorable experience — not just for the players, but for the fans as well.”

The return of the T20 Mumbai League has already generated tremendous enthusiasm, with over 2800 player registrations — a staggering number that underscores the league's reputation as a premier talent incubator. Launched in 2018, the league has previously seen names like Shivam Dube, Tushar Deshpande, and Shams Mulani graduate to higher levels of the game.
The MCA has doubled down on its commitment to expanding the league’s footprint. Two new franchise operators were officially welcomed: Roadway Solutions India Infra Ltd, which now operates the Sobo Mumbai Falcons, having acquired the rights for a handsome ₹82 crore; and Royal Edge Sports & Entertainment, which clinched the team representing Mumbai South Central for ₹57 crore. These additions keep the team count steady at eight, with the new entrants joining an exciting mix of returning franchises — North Mumbai Panthers, ARCS Andheri, Triumph Knights Mumbai North East, Namo Bandra Blasters, Eagle Thane Strikers, and Aakash Tigers Mumbai Western Suburbs.
“We are proud to announce Rohit Sharma as the face of the T20 Mumbai League. His remarkable achievements and journey reflects the core values of Mumbai cricket — grit, determination, hard work, and ambition. His association with the league will not only inspire aspiring cricketers but also elevate the league’s stature. We are equally excited to welcome two new franchise operators to the T20 Mumbai League family. With growing interest from stakeholders, our goal is to provide an even larger platform for Mumbai’s talented players and build India’s next cricket heroes.”
— Ajinkya Naik, MCA President
Season 3 aims not only to relaunch the league with renewed fervour but also to create a sustainable, talent-focused ecosystem. With corporate interest at an all-time high, and a solid foundation laid by MCA’s organisational rigour, the league is poised to set new standards in domestic T20 competition.
What sets the T20 Mumbai League apart is its rootedness. It's a league where legends like Rohit Sharma once played barefoot in the dusty maidans of Borivali and Shivaji Park, and where the next generation still dreams of turning local glory into national recognition. The return of this league, with its mix of competitive cricket, entertainment, and community engagement, is set to bring Mumbai’s cricketing heartbeat back to life.
With Rohit at the helm as its face, the trophy gleaming in anticipation, and a galaxy of young stars ready to shine, Season 3 promises a cricketing spectacle that’s uniquely Mumbai — raw, resilient, and relentlessly brilliant.
So mark your calendars for 26 May — the sound of leather on willow is about to echo louder than ever across Mumbai.
