Rohit Sharma might have retired from the T20I format but wishes to continue playing the ODI and Test formats 'for a while', he confirmed at an event in Dallas.
The 37-year-old captain of the Indian cricket team announced his retirement from the T20I format after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in West Indies on June 29. He has made it clear back then that he would continue playing in the other two formats.

The star opener reconfirmed about his intention of continuing playing for India in an event held in Dallas, USA. "I just said it. I don't do that far ahead. So clearly, you will be seeing me play for a while," Rohit Sharma said at the event.
The fans present at the event erupted in joy after the confident reply from the Mumbai batter. Rohit was in Dallas to inaugurate his Crickingdom cricket academy.
Fans would be hoping to see the 'Hitman' in action during India's white-ball tour of Sri Lanka, but Rohit Sharma is very likely to be rested for the three ODI matches which will be held after the three T20Is.
The ODI series starts in Colombo from August 2, and with Rohit enjoying his off time out of India, there are chances of him opting to make himself unavailable for the three games.
However, newly-appointed India head coach Gautam Gambhir is set to start his tenure with the Sri Lanka series, and would want to start his partnership with Rohit, or else the duo will have to wait till September when Bangladesh travel to India for two Test matches.
Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir would straightaway start chalking out plans for the Champions Trophy 2025, and the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final which India is hoping to qualify for. It would be interesting to wait and watch if Rohit Sharma gives a shot at the next ODI World Cup scheduled to be held in South Africa in 2027.
