Rohit Sharma has revealed the reason behind his slow walk and Lionel Messiesque dance while collecting the T20 World Cup trophy in Barbados.
After India's World Cup win over South Africa, Rohit Sharma recreated the famous Lionel Messi walk while taking the trophy. He made a slow walk to his teammates and then celebrated with the trophy along with the team.

Fans could find similarities with Lionel Messi as the Argentine celebrated in the same fashion after Argentina's World Cup victory in 2022. But Rohit Sharma has now revealed the true reason behind his unique celebration.
During team India's meeting with PM Narendra Modi, the India captain revealed that two of his teammates indulged him in the celebration. Those players asked Rohit to do something different and he obliged to them.
"It was such a big moment for us. We had been waiting for this for so long. The players suggested just don't walk up to the stage in a usual way and attempt something different," Rohit said to PM Modi.
When Modi asked if the idea came from Yuzvendra Chahal, Rohit revealed Chahal was a part of it along with his spin partner Kuldeep Yadav.
"It was the idea of Chahal and Kuldeep (Yadav)," the India captain revealed.
PM Modi later asked Kuldeep how he gathered the courage to convince his captain to do such a celebration and Kuldeep had a hilarious reply.
"But he (Rohit) did not do the way I told him to do," Kuldeep said prompting a huge laughter in the room.
The India captain also opened up on him tasting the Barbados soil after India's victory.
"Where we achieve the victory, the pitch, that one moment I wanted to remember forever, so I tasted it," he said.
