Rohit Sharma has discarded chances of MS Dhoni making a comeback from retirement and featuring in the India squad for T20 World Cup 2024, saying that the 42-year-old is "sick and tired". However, he revealed that the former India captain will be in the USA during the period to play golf.
Notably, the T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to be held in the USA and the West Indies from June 2. The selectors are keeping a close eye on the performances of players in the ongoing IPL 2024 to pick the final squad for the marquee event.

MS Dhoni was at his brutal best in Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) match against Mumbai Indians. With just four balls left in the CSK innings, Dhoni walked in to bat and hit three consecutive sixes on the first three balls, and then took a double to finish on unbeaten 20 off four. CSK won that match later by 20 runs.
“Look he came to play for four balls, made a huge impact. He got those 20 runs and that was eventually the difference in the end,” he said," Rohit Sharma said on “Club Prairie Fire” podcast.
Rohit Sharma also talked about 38-year-old Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, who is in top form in IPL 2024. The Indian captain said it would be easier to convince Dinesh Karthik for the T20 World cup.
Karthik scored unbeaten 53 off 23 against Mumbai Indians on Thursday, and 83 off 35 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday. He has scored a total of 226 runs in seven matches at an average of 75.33 and a strike rate of 205.45.
“It will be hard to convince MS Dhoni for the T20 World Cup. He is sick and tired. He is coming to US to play golf, these days he is into golf. But DK (Dinesh Karthik)will be easier to convince,” said Rohit.
Rohit Sharma was involved in a funny banter with Dinesh Karthik during the MI vs RCB match at the Wankhede Stadium. As Karthik smashed a 22-ball hundred, Rohit came up to him and said, "Shabash DK! T20 World Cup mein selection ke liye push karna hai isko. Dimag mein chal raha hai iske World Cup. (Well done DK! He is pushing for a spot in the T20 World Cup. His mind is occupied with the thought of the World Cup)."
