India captain Rohit Sharma has often been praised for his modest and down-to-earth nature. His press conferences and the way he interacts with his teammates and fans have given enough proof of it.

Rohit Sharma's recent interview with journalist Vimal Kumar has helped his fans know a lot more about him. The 36-year-old has opened up like never before and his carefree and humble attitude has floored fans all over again.

In the 15-minute long interview, Rohit Sharma - one of the biggest celebrities in the country at the moment - did not have any air around him even for a second.

Rohit Sharma revealed that Dal Rice was his favourite food to eat anywhere in the world before adding that he likes Rasam Rice as well because of his South Indian roots. Notably, Rohit Sharma's mother Purnima Sharma, is from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

"Mera sabse favourite hai Daal Chawal. Favourite. Mtlb mai kahin pay bhi, kabhi bhi kha skta houn. (Daal Chawal is my most favorite. Favourite. I mean I can eat it whenever and wherever I am) We are south Indians and so used to eat Rasam Rice as well. You get Dal in any corner of the world and Indian restaurants are everywhere now," Rohit Sharma told Vimal Kumar.

No favourite genre, likes movies based on true stories

The 'Hitman' does not have a favourite song or a movie and the choice is spontaneous and largely depends on his mood. He likes watching movies and documentaries based on true events.

"Depends on the mood. I don't have an all-time best movie. You will not get such answers from me, all-time best players and all that. I like to watch comedy movies, documentaries and movies on true stories. The music also depends on the mood. I am a different type of person and I don't have a go-to song. This is not my forte," he said.

Rohit Sharma's bucket list: Scandinavia countries and Northern Lights

The star opener, who is gearing up for the World Cup 2023, loves travelling to London and Dubai. He wants to visit Scandinavia countries in the future and witness the northern lights one day in his life.

"I love travelling but I don't have a favourite where I have to go and settle down. I like London a lot. I like Dubai also, it's close to home (laughs). I want to got to Scandinavia countries. It's on my bucket list. I have to see the Northern Lights. It happens around October-November and we are busy playing cricket then. But let's see. It it's in the destiny I will see it one day."

Rohit Sharma's inspiration

The Mumbai batter reiterated that his father Gurunath Sharma was his "biggest hero". He said that his father made many sacrifices to keep the family running.

“My father is my biggest hero. I have said this many times, he raised us with a lot of struggles. The result of this struggle is very sweet. We were small, he sacrificed a lot for us.”

Rohit Sharma's childhood and life after marriage

Vimal Kumar also quizzed him on his life after marriage and Rohit admitted that a lot has changed as he has lived alone for most part of his life. Rohit Sharma stayed away from his parents from early days. He lived with his grandfather initially and then stayed alone while hustling hard to become an India cricketer.

"They are two different modes. Since childhood I stayed without my mother and father. I used to stay with my grandfather and when I started playing I used to live alone. So, I lived alone before marriage. Changes do come after the marriage. I have become more patient and chilled out. I have to make decisions now and so have to keep my mind cool and calm. Earlier I was alone and carefree, used to roam around here and there," Rohit Sharma said.

The star cricketer regrets not being picked in the India squad for World Cup 2011. He has gone on record to admit that he was shattered to be not part of the home World Cup which India ended up winning.

11 years later, Rohit Sharma will be leading India in the 2023 home World Cup which starts from October 5. The right-hand batter recently completed 10,000 runs in ODI cricket.
