Rohit Sharma on Sunday (July 23) surpassed Sri Lanka great Mahela Jayawardene to set a unique record in Test cricket following his fifty against West Indies in the second Test at the Queen's Park Oval in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.
The Indian skipper smashed 57 off 44 balls during the second innings of the final Test of the series as the team added 181/2 before declaration, setting a challenging total of 365 for West Indies, who ended the day at 76/2 heading into the final day of the match.

Although not a big record, Rohit is now the owner of the most consecutive double digit scores in Test cricket, surpassing Jayawardene's previous best of 29 with his latest innings score of 57 which took him to 30 consecutive double digit scores in Tests.
His last single digit Test score came back in 2021, when he was dismissed for 6 by Jofra Archer during the first innings of the India vs England Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Since that dismissal, he has alway scored more than 10 in his Test innings.
