
India's comprehensive victory over Australia in the 1st Test in Nagpur has yielded records galore on the pitch.
There were many players who have reached many personal milestones with their performances in the match, and India captain Rohit Sharma is among the names.
The Indian captain scored a hundred while batting, becoming the only centurion in the match. In a pitch which bamboozled the Aussie batters, Rohit found things extremely easy as his flawless 120 gave India a strong foundation in the first innings.
Rohit scored his first Test century as India captain, and also became the only Indian captain to have scored hundreds in all formats while leading the country. But after India's resounding victory over the Aussies, he has found himself poling at another unique record.
Rohit Sharma has now become the Indian opener with most centuries in an international match win. The Indian captain has now reached the three-figure mark 31 times as an opener when the team have won a match. With this, Rohit surpassed Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar, who has his tally at 30.

Among the global names, Rohit Sharma is now joint-second along with former Australia opener Matthew Hayden, while another Aussie opener David Warner is currently the player with the most centuries as an opener in wins, with 32 times.
The Indian skipper is just one away from equaling the record and he will surely aim to achieve that by the end of this Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
India's sheer dominance over Australia was quite vivid as they dismantled the visitors with their frontline spinners. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja ran riot in the Aussie batting lineup as India have taken a 1-0 lead in the series. The next Test is set to be played in Delhi, followed by a couple more in Dharamshala and Ahmedabad respectively.
India and Australia currently are at the pole positions of the ICC World Test Championship table. The top two teams will be playing the WTC 2021-23 cycle final to be held at the Oval in June.
