A social media storm erupted as former teammate of Rohit Sharma fiercely defended the Indian captain after allegations surfaced of him leaking dressing room details. The controversy follows India's heavy Boxing Day Test defeat to Australia by 184 runs at the MCG in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
The uproar began when a fan accused Rohit Sharma of deliberately creating narratives against teammates and coach Gautam Gambhir. The accusation has only intensified since India succumbed to a 3-1 series defeat, conceding BGT for the first time in 10 years.

Former cricketer Harbhajan Singh responded bluntly, questioning the fan's credibility and hinting at a larger "dirty game" aimed at tarnishing Rohit's reputation. "Who is your source? I know who's paying you to defame an honest man," Harbhajan tweeted.
The allegations gained traction after reports surfaced that Gambhir had admonished the team following the defeat. Former cricketers Irfan Pathan and Shreevats Goswami also weighed in, emphasising the sanctity of dressing room confidentiality.
Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, has already addressed the issue diplomatically, asserting that off-field drama does not impact the team's morale. "Players here are made of steel," he said, emphasising the focus on performance rather than distractions. The Indian captain, struggling for form in the series with an average of just 6.20, stepped down for the Sydney Test, allowing Shubman Gill to take his place.
Rohit Sharma's captaincy is expected to come into question in the coming days while he made it clear in an interview recently that he has no plans to let go his captaincy or retire. The interview came at a time when rumours were making round that other senior players are being considered for Test captaincy after India's recent struggles in red-ball format that concluded with failure to reach the World Test Championship final for the first time.
With the new WTC cycle beginning in June, it remains to be seen if the BCCI top brass will show faith in the cricketer, who led India to two World Cup finals in as many years, memorably winning one of them.
