The Mumbai cricket team is set to announce its squad for the second leg of the Ranji Trophy on January 20. Ahead of the announcement, the selectors will follow the standard procedure of confirming each player's availability, including India skipper Rohit Sharma.
Rohit is expected to make his comeback in the domestic red-ball tournament after a prolonged absence. However, his participation has yet to be officially confirmed to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

According to a PTI report, selectors will reach out to Rohit at the time of the squad selection. In preparation, the star batter joined the Mumbai team's training camp at Wankhede Stadium earlier this week, where he was seen practicing in the nets. Rohit batted alongside team captain Ajinkya Rahane and participated in a match simulation drill.
An MCA official stated, "The selectors are expected to announce the squad on January 20, during which they will follow the due process of checking for the availability of every player. Rohit will also be approached around the time for selection."
The potential inclusion of Rohit Sharma in the Ranji Trophy squad has generated excitement among cricket enthusiasts, with fans eager to see the Indian captain back in action on the domestic stage.
The India captain was seen practising at the Bandra Kurla Complex ground for Mumbai and he is expected to feature in the next two Ranji matches at least. Rohit had a dismal outing for India in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. He only managed to score 31 runs in the series with an average of just 6.20. As India prepare for the Champions Trophy 2025, Rohit will be hoping to hit form before that and a Ranji outing may provide the much-needed confidence.
Apart from Rohit, Mumbai will see Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur in action for the upcoming Ranji matches.
