By MyKhel Staff

Rohit Sharma has revealed his thoughts on hanging his boots after India's Champions Trophy 2025 triumph on Sunday (March 9).

India clinched the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy with a four-wicket victory over New Zealand in a thrilling final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on March 9, 2025.

Opting to bat first, New Zealand posted a total of 251-7, bolstered by notable contributions from Daryl Mitchell, who scored 63 runs, and Michael Bracewell, who remained unbeaten at 53. India's spin duo, Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav, played pivotal roles in restricting New Zealand's progress by taking crucial wickets at key moments.

In response, India commenced their chase assertively, with captain Rohit Sharma leading from the front with a brisk 76 runs. His innings laid a solid foundation, complemented by a century partnership with Shubman Gill. Despite a mid-innings wobble, KL Rahul's composed unbeaten 34 ensured India reached the target with an over to spare.

This victory marked India's third Champions Trophy title, reinforcing their dominance in the tournament. The India captain also won the Player of the Match award and became the only India captain after MS Dhoni to win multiple ICC tournaments for India.

Rohit has been under the pump in recent months as there has been speculation on his future. From the BGT last year, the veteran has been under scrutiny and his ODI future was seriously in question.

Is Rohit Sharma retiring from ODIs?

In the post-match press conference on Sunday, Rohit revealed his thoughts. The India captain was asked about his future, and he has affirmed to continue his journey in the 50-over format for India.

"I am not going to retire from this format. Just to make sure, no rumours are made moving forward," Rohit said at the press conference before signing off with the Champions Trophy.

There were also speculation about Ravindra Jadeja's future and the all-rounder looks set to continue his limited overs career as well.
