The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly considering bolstering the India Men's cricket team's coaching staff by appointing a dedicated batting coach, as per a report.
According to Cricbuzz, BCCI is keen to add one member to Gautam Gambhir's think tank, who shall focus on the batters ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025.

While no official announcement has been made, discussions within the BCCI and team management have highlighted the need to strengthen the support staff, particularly in the batting department.
This follows India's recent struggles in Test cricket, where batting collapses have been a recurring issue, and key players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have failed to deliver consistently.
Currently, the coaching staff under head coach Gautam Gambhir comprises Morne Morkel (bowling coach), Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate (assistant coaches), and T Dilip (fielding coach). However, the focus on improving batting performances has led to a strong push for a fresh perspective from a specialist batting coach.
Among the names being considered are some of India's finest former cricketers who bring not only technical expertise but also a deep understanding of the mental and strategic aspects of batting.
With the Champions Trophy looming large, BCCI will leave no stones unturned to provided optimum help for the players. India will be playing in ODI format after going winless in the calendar year 2024, where they played just 3 ODI matches. After the heartbreak in the World Cup 2023 Final on home soil, Rohit Sharma and team will be aiming to make amends and a victorious Champions Trophy campaign will be the perfect medicine for all recent woes.
