Just ahead of the paramount Test series against England, starting from June 20, India has been dealt with a double blow with the departure of the two stalwarts. Rohit, who was also the captain, has now left a massive void in the leadership department as well.

Although their retirements have come at a very tricky moment, BCCI is adamant to keep the duo in the highest bracket of the central contract. Both Virat and Rohit belong in the A+ category of BCCI contract despite not featuring in two of three international formats. After their Test retirements, questions arose regarding their contract slab, but BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that the two veterans will continue to remain at the pinnacle of their salary pyramid.

"Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma's Grade A contract will continue despite their retirement from the T20Is and Tests. They are still part of the Indian cricket team, and they will get all the facilities of Grade A+," Saikia was quoted as saying by ANI.

Apart from Rohit and Virat - Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja also belong to Grade A+ contract of the BCCI.

Virat Kohli, meanwhile, had already announced his Test retirement earlier in May, ending a distinguished 14-year stint in whites. The 36-year-old featured in 123 Tests, scoring 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85. With 30 centuries and 31 fifties to his name
