Barasat, Jan 21 (UNI) At least four people were injured today when Railway Protection Force (RPF) men lathicharged demonstrators who blocked tracks here protesting Sourav Ganguly's exclusion from the Team India ODI in Australia.
A group of youths from the nearby Banamalipur area raised blockades at the Barasat railway station under Eastern Railway's Sealdah-Bangaon section expressing their resentment against the dropping of the former skipper from the One Day team.
The RPF action evoked further trouble disrupting movement of trains through the junction station for about two hours. A police reinforcement and applogy for resorting to lathicharge on the peaceful demonstrators helped normalise the situation, a station official said.
The injured were taken to the district hospital nearby.
