RR Remaining Purse 2025: How Much Money Can Rajasthan Royals Spend at IPL Mega Auction?

RR Remaining Purse 2025: Rajasthan Royals (RR) will enter the IPL 2025 Mega Auction with the smallest purse after retaining all six players from their 2024 squad on the retention deadline day earlier this week on Thursday (October 31).

The Jaipur-based side let go of some big name overseas and Indian stars, but retained three Indian capped and one Indian uncapped player as well as one capped foreign player ahead of the IPL Mega Auction, which is likely to be held later this month in Saudi Arabia.

On expected lines, RR's top retention was their skipper Sanju Samson, who is set to continue his journey with the Royals for the next three years. Samson, who began his IPL career in RR, returned to the side in 2018 after spending two seasons with Delhi Capitals from 2016-17.

Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal also was retained for Rs 18 Crore, while Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel and all-rounder Riyan Parag were the next two retentions at Rs 14 Crore each.

West Indies batter Shimron Hetmyer was retained for Rs 11 Crore, while Sandeep Sharma, who last played for India in 2015, was retained as an uncapped player for Rs 4 Crore, leaving the franchise with the lowest buget going into the big auction.

RR did not retain the likes of Jos Buttler, Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan, Navdeep Saini, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Sen, Nandre Burger and Rovman Powell among several others.

The Royals will try buying some of their released players back at the auction despite going into the bidding process without a Right to Match (RTM) card. Here is a look at their remaining purse and potential targets at the IPL Mega Auction:

What is RR's remaining purse after IPL 2025 Retention deadline day?

Like the other nine teams, RR was also allocated a budget of Rs 120 Crore for the upcoming IPL 2025. Following the full quota of six retentions which cost Rs 79 Crore, RR are left with just Rs 41 Crore to spend at the IPL Auction 2025.

How many players will RR need to add at IPL Mega Auction 2025?

The squad size limit is 25, while a team can enter the season even with an 18-player squad. RR will need a minimum of 12 players and a maximum of 19 players to finalize their roster for the IPL 2025 season. Remaining budget could be enough for RR to form a decent squad at the auction.

Who will be RR's main targets at IPL 2025 Mega Auction?

The Rajasthan Royals will target a mix of overseas and Indian placyers at the IPL Mega Auction 2025. Having released the spinners, RR will once again aim for R Ashwin and Chahal at the auction.

With just one overseas retention, RR will also be targetting some foreign players at the big auction. Trent Boult and Rovman could be one of the options they would aim for, but Buttler’s return may be impossible due to their low budget compared to the other teams.
