Riyan Parag's coronation as an IPL captain on his home turf turned a baptism of fire as Kolkata Knight Riders secured a comprehensive win over Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday (March 26).
The Knight Riders beat the Royals by 8 wickets at the Barsapara Stadium and thus registered their first victory of the season.

The Kolkata Knight Riders bowled first and restricted Royals to 151 for 9. Although the pitch was on the slower side, the KKR bowlers did exceedingly well to put a leash on the star-studded RR batting. Varun Chakravarthy, Moeen Ali, Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora - all picked up two wickets each. For the Royals, Dhruv Jurel was the highest scorer with 33 runs.
In the run chase, Quinton de Kock led from the front and anchored the innings brilliantly to take KKR home. The South African scored an unbeaten 97 runs to help KKR get a stellar victory in Guwahati. Ajinkya Rahane (18 off 15) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (22* off 17) also played key part in the run chase for them.
It was a multifaceted performance from the Knight Riders. They batted and bowled superbly while the fielding was excellent as well. The Knight Riders chased 152 runs on a tricky wicket but it was one person who kept their innings together and steered them towards a comfortable victory - Quinton de Kock.
Quinton de Kock showcased his might with the bat, scoring an unbeaten 97 runs off just 61 deliveries. He hit 8 fours and 6 sixes in his superb knock and played with ease, dominating all the bowlers with his hitting prowess. The South African looked in ominous touch and his unbeaten knock was quintessential for KKR's maiden victory of the season.
Even behind the stumps, the MVP of the match was brilliant. He picked up a sublime high catch to send Riyan Parag going, which completely changed the match and started a mini collapse of the Rajasthan batting.
