In match 4 of the season, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will open their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Sunday (March 24).
Sanju Samson-led RR will look to make their home a fortress, having only one of their five fixtures in Jaipur last season, while LSG led by their returning skipper KL Rahul will look to remain unbeaten at the venue.

The two sides made a big trade before the IPL auction last year as Royals got pacer Avesh Khan in a player exchange deal for opener Devdutt Padikkal. Now, the two players will face each other sporting different kits.
The Royals finished outside the playoff spots last season after they finished in sixth on the points table, while LSG qualified for the playoffs for a second year in a row, but exited in the eliminator on both occasions.
Despite last season’s home defeat, RR hold a good record against LSG. However, the Lucknow-based outfit won the most recent meeting between the two sides. Here is a look at the head to head numbers.
In the 3 RR vs LSH head to head meetings in IPL, RR has a 2-1 edge over LSG. But Lucknow Super Giants won on their only visit to the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in 2023.
In the solitary meeting in 2023, LSG rode on Kyle Mayers fifty along with cameos from Nicholas Pooran and Marcus Stoinis to post 154 before Avesh Khan and Stoinis starred with the ball to restrict RR to 144 and in the process sealed a 10-run win in Jaipur.
In 2022 season, RR got the better of LSG on both occasions. In IPL 2022 league phase, RR rode on Hetmyer’s unbeaten 59 to set a total of 165 before Yuzvendra Chahal’s four-wicket haul restricted LSG to 162/8 to seal a 3-run win at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.
In the reverse fixture, left-handers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal helped RR set a challenging total of 178 followed by an all-round bowling effort which sealed a 14-run win at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
