Lucknow Super Giants registered a crucial victory over Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday (April 19) by 10 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

On an ambiguous deck, Lucknow managed to put on 154/7 at the end of their full quota of overs. Kyle Mayers scored 51 runs while the LSG captain KL Rahul scored 39 runs. In reply, Rajasthan Royals made a fantastic start, but lost their way in the middle and ended up with 144/6 in their 20 overs.

The Royals will be up against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their next match on Sunday (April 23), while Lucknow Super Giants take on defending champions Gujarat Titans on Saturday (April 22).

RR vs LSG: Who Said What

Sanju Samson (RR Captain): "Not a great feeling but we have to learn the lessons. With the batting lineup we have, it was a chasable score but they bowled well. I was expecting a slow and low wicket and we got that. You need to play smart cricket and we were playing that. We struggled in the middle phase and lost wickets here and there. It is a bit tough to score 50 in last 5 overs in this big ground. We will take lessons out of it and play better cricket in the next games."

KL Rahul (LSG Captain): "I got hit by one of the throws (on something wrapped on hand). At the end of the 10 over mark, the message from us was 165 would be a good total. We set ourselves a target which was achievable and I think we bowled better."

"We wanted to score 190 at first, but from the first over, we realized it was a slow and low wicket, hence we knew it was not a 180 wicket. I think Sanju Samson's run out was the turnaround and RR's top 4 are really strong."

Marcus Stoinis (Player of the Match): "It was nice to get involved with the ball. We identified it was a tough wicket and we got the message clear to just put on a good total.

"I am good fitness-wise to bowl and you have to ask the skipper (on bowling more in the tournament)."

Jos Buttler hit a 112-metre-long six in the match, which is the 2nd biggest in the IPL 2023 so far.

Deepak Hooda got dismissed for 2 runs. This is his 5th single-digit score in six innings - most by a no. 3 batter after six innings in an IPL season.

Shimron Hetmyer was dismissed in a single-digit score for the first time in this IPL.
