RR vs LSG, IPL 2025: Will Mayank Yadav Play For Lucknow Super Giants Today Against Rajasthan Royals?

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) received a much-needed boost after Indian tear-away pacer Mayank Yadav, who recovered from injury, linked up with the squad ahead of the IPL 2025 clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Since announcing his arrival in the IPL and the international stage with his sheer pace last year, Mayank Yadav has been recuperating from multiple fitness issues including a lower back stress fracture.

The young speedster, who last played his last competitive game in October 2024, has missed action in both international and domestic tournaments as the Delhi quick under went rehabilitation at the BCCI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru.

After missing games for India and Delhi, the 22-year-old has also missed the first seven games of the ongoing IPL. But his return date edged closer after he joined the LSG camp earlier this week. So, when will he feature for LSG this season? Here is the latest fitness update of Mayank Yadav:

Mayank Yadav injury update: India's fastest bowler has joined the LSG squad after the defeat to Chennai Super Kings. The team's batting coach Lance Klusener provided an update on his availability after the speedster underwent a few fitness checks and bowled long spells in the nets in the lead up to the match against RR.

Klusener remained tight-lipped about Mayank Yadav's availability for tonight's match against Rajasthan Royals, but the batting coach added that the speedster will soon be seen playing for Lucknow Super Giants.

Mayank Yadav had missed action even in the 2021 season for the entire campaign and then missed major part of last season with persistent injury issues. The Lucknow-based franchise retained the pacer despite his injury concerns, showcasing their trust in the youngster.

In Mayank's absence, Rishabh Pant's LSG has won four and lost three with Shardul Thakur, a replacement signing for injured Mohsin Khan, leading the wicket-takers charts for Lucknow this season, while Avesh Khan and Akash Deep, who also missed the start of the season, performing in flashes.

A return of Mayank will come as huge boost for LSG in their quest for a playoff berth and eventually their first title since making their Indian Premier League (IPL) debut in the 2022 season.
