RR vs MI IPL 2024: Who will be the Highest Wicket-takers in Rajasthan vs Mumbai?

In Match 38 of the IPL 2024, the table leader Rajasthan Royals will lock horns with seventh-placed Mumbai Indians at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday (April 22).

Rajasthan and Mumbai had met 28 times in the past and Mumbai won 15 of them. In this venue, the Royals have won five out of seven times against Mumbai. MI's last win at this venue was in May 2012.

RR vs MI

RR are having one of the best campaigns in their IPL history. They are the most consistent and balanced squad so far in this season, losing only a single one against GT, out of seven matches. In the last match against KKR, the Royals successfully chased a target of 224, which is a record in IPL. On the other hand, after a bumpy start by losing all three out of the first three matches, MI made a comeback and won three out of the four matches they played.

IPL 2024 RR vs MI: Bowling Squad Comparison

Till now, Jasprit Bumrah has spearheaded the MI bowling from the front and is well assisted by Gerald Coetzee. In the last match against PBKS, both of the pacers got three wickets each. The spin department remains a place of concern for the Indians but Shreyas Gopal's familiarity with Jaipur's condition could come in handy. Mohammad Nabi also can play a role with the ball.

IPL 2024 RR vs MI: Top Four Wicket-Takers Prediction

Trent Boult (RR): The 34-year-old Kiwi fast bowler's ability to swing the ball both ways always causes problems for the opponent batters. With his left-arm fast-medium bowling Boult already picked 112 wickets in his IPL career. In the past, he dismissed Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan multiple times. Along with Avesh Khan or Sandeep Sharma, this veteran can cause mayhem in the early overs of MI innings.

Yuzvendra Chahal (RR): The highest wicket-taker in IPL history with 199 wickets in his IPL career, is at the third position in the race for the Purple cap with 12 wickets in seven matches. The right-arm leg spinner can be very useful against the left-handed openers. In the middle overs, Chahal is going to be a crucial option for RR, especially against the likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya.

Jasprit Bumrah (MI): The Indian right-arm fast bowler is currently the highest wicket-taker of the season with 13 wickets. The 31-year-old has 158 wickets in IPL with an economy rate of 7.31. He will be the key to stopping Jos Buttler in the early overs. Bumrah has a successful history against Buttler, Sanju Samson and Shimron Hetmyer and scalped them multiple times. His meagre economy rate along with the ability to put accurate yorkers made him one of the deadliest pace weapons in limited-overs cricket.

Gerald Coetzee (MI): The 23-year-old South African pacer along with Bumrah, made a formidable duo for MI bowling. Despite being new to IPL, Coetzee has 12 wickets so far in this season. It will be a challenge for the RR top orders to handle this fast-bowling duo in the powerplay overs.

So far in this season, RR have been excellent in all the departments. MI has just started to win the matches and is coming back to the competition. Though MI batters have been able to put up big scores this season, RR were also amazing in the run chase. After their win against KKR, the Royals will be more confident and make the task difficult for MI. Hence, in the halfway of the IPL, it will certainly be an exciting duel to watch for.
