RR vs PBKS IPL 2025: What Was The Turning Point As Punjab Edge Rajasthan By 10 Runs?

RR vs PBKS: In a thrilling afternoon encounter at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured a crucial 10-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Match 59 of IPL 2025 on Saturday, 18th May.

The win came on the back of a strong batting performance and a game-changing spell from left-arm spinner Harpreet Brar, who tilted the match in Punjab's favor with a decisive three-wicket haul.

RR vs PBKS

Punjab Kings Set a Towering Target

After winning the toss and opting to bat, PBKS posted a formidable 219/5 in their 20 overs. Despite a shaky start that saw them lose three wickets inside the powerplay-including the in-form Prabhsimran Singh (21 off 10) and Mitchell Owen for a duck-captain Shreyas Iyer (30 off 25) and Nehal Wadhera (70 off 37) stabilized the innings with a 67-run partnership.

The second fireworks, however, came from Shashank Singh, who smashed a blistering 59 not out off just 30 balls, helping Punjab finish strong. Azmatullah Omarzai chipped in with a cameo, scoring 21* off 9.

Harpreet Brar Spins the Game Around

In response, Rajasthan Royals got off to a blazing start with Yashasvi Jaiswal hammering 50 off 25 balls and Vaibhav Suryavanshi contributing a quickfire 40 off 15. RR reached 76/1 inside five overs, and the chase seemed well within reach.

However, Harpreet Brar had other plans. Introduced into the attack at a crucial juncture, the left-arm spinner broke the Royals' momentum by dismissing both openers-Jaiswal and Suryavanshi-before coming back to bowl Riyan Parag for 13. Brar's spell of 4-0-22-3 not only choked the run flow but also dismantled the Royals' top order, turning the tide in Punjab's favor.

Despite Dhruv Jurel's valiant 53 off 31 balls and some late efforts from Shubham Dubey (7*) and Kwena Maphaka (8*), RR fell short, finishing at 209/7.

Summary

Player of the Match: Harpreet Brar (4-0-22-3)

Turning Point: Harpreet Brar's double strike to remove Jaiswal and Suryavanshi

Top Scorers: Nehal Wadhera (70), Shashank Singh (59*), Yashasvi Jaiswal (50), Dhruv Jurel (53)

This win boosts PBKS's chances of qualifying for the playoffs, while RR will be left to rue their middle-order collapse-engineered by the brilliance of Harpreet Brar.
