Ryder out of IPL-3 with groin injury

By Super Admin

Wellington, Jan.29 (ANI): New Zealand batsman Jesse Ryder will miss the third edition of Indian Premier League as he continues to struggle with a groin injury.

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said today that Ryder's injury was taking longer to rehabilitate than it had originally been hoped and the priority was now to have him fit for the Twenty20 World Cup in May.

Stuff.co.nz quoted his manager Aaron Klee, as saying: "Jesse is understandably disappointed about not going to India for the IPL, but he is realistic about returning too early and aggravating his groin injury."

"He is better to be completely recovered and play a full tournament in the West Indies than risk rushing back to play IPL and jeopardising his involvement in both tournaments," he added.

Ryder will spend the next month in Christchurch working with NZC medical and coaching staff. (ANI)
