India is playing against South Africa in the first match of a four-match T20I series at Kingsmead in Durban and South Africa won the toss and opted to bowl.

India lost the wicket of Abhishek Sharma early in the match in the first ball of the fourth over. Captain Suryakumar Yadav also returned to the pavilion in the ninth over scoring 21 runs.
On the other hand, continuing his current dream form, the other opener, Sanju Samson, played a magnificent knock of 107 runs and scored his second ton in T20I. He built two important partnerships of 66 (off 37 balls) and 77 (off 34 balls) runs with Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Verma respectively.
On his way to scoring his second T20I hundred, he reached many milestones and set many records, including a personal best.
1st Indian to score consecutive T20 Centuries
This is the only fourth occasion where hundreds are scored in two consecutive matches in T20Is. Only three players had done this before. The four players who achieved the feat are:
First T20I Century for Samson outside Asia
This was also the first century for Samson outside the Asian continent. His first century was against Bangladesh in Hyderabad just in the previous match. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter scored 111 runs against Bangladesh.
Highest scorer in T20Is between India and South Africa
This 107-run innings is also the highest individual score in a T20I between India and South Africa, surpassing David Miller’s unbeaten 106 in Guwahati in 2022.
Most boundaries in T20Is for India in a single innings
On his way to the hundred against South Africa, he hit 10 sixes and 7 boundaries. This is the joint most for an Indian batter in a T20I along with Rohit Sharma. Sharma did that against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017.
