SA20 2025 Final: List of Award Winners, Records & Stats After MI Cape Town Clinch Their Maiden Title

MI Cape Town on Saturday (February 8) clinched their maiden SA20 title after ending the dominance of back-to-back two-time champion Sunrisers Eastern Cape with a comfortable 76-run victory in the title clash of the third edition at The Wanderers in Johannesburg.

Connor Esterhuizen (39 off 26 balls) and Dewald Brevis (38 off 18 balls) top scored for MI Cape Town after opting to bat first in the final as the other batters also chipped in to set a target of 182.

For Sunrisers, Richard Gleeson was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 22, while Marco Jansen (2/39) and Liam Dawson (2/40) also claimed two wickets each, but the pair were on the expensive side.

In the run chase, Kagiso Rabada and Trent Boult struck inside three overs, claiming a wicket each before Tony de Zorzi (26 off 23 balls) and Tom Abell (30 off 25 balls) put on a fight for the reigning champions.

Then spinner George Linde and skipper Rashid Khan stopped the flow by taking two and one wicket each before the pacers Boult (2/9), Corbin Bosch (1/27) and Rabada (4/25), the pick of the bowlers, cleaned up the rest of the Sunrisers batting order to seal the win.

Following the match, Sunrisers Eastern Cape all-rounder Marco Jansen was named player of the tournament and the bowler of the season, while Paarl Royals opener Lhuan-dre Pretorius was named the tournament's best batter.
