SA20 2025 Retentions List: Retained & Pre-Signed Players of All 6 Teams Ahead of Auction

All six teams have started revealing their retention list for next year's SA20, starting with the defending champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Durban's Super Giants and Paarl Royals as the rest of the teams will announce their complete list ahead of the season 3 auction.

Aiden Markram has been retained as captain for the Sunrisers Eastern Cape's bid for an unprecedented Betway SA20 hat-trick of championship titles. The Sunrisers also retained the core of their back-to-back championship winning squad for Season 3.

SA20 2025 Retentions and Pre-Signed Players List

The Paarl Royals also have retained David Miller as their skipper, but have traded spinner Tabraiz Shamsi to Joburg Super Kings in exchange for Dayyaan Galiem. The Royals have also retained the services of Lungi Ngidi, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kwena Maphaka and Lhuan-dre Pretorius among others.

Each squad competing in South Africa's premier T20 cricket league comprises 19 players, which includes a Rookie and Wildcard, with a maximum of eight overseas players allowed. For the match day Playing XI, teams can field a maximum of four overseas players and a minimum of seven South Africans.

Joburg Super Kings also have retained their skipper Faf Du Plessis alongside the likes of Donovan Ferreira, Moeen Ali and Imran Tahir among others. Durban's Super Giants also have retained majority of their players from last season.

MI Cape Town have retained the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Rassie van der Dussen and Dewald Brevis among others, while Pretoria Capitals also revealed their retentions with Wayne Parnell, Anrich Nortje and Rilee Rossouw among those retained.

Durban's Super Giants 2025 Retentions: Keshav Maharaj, Heinrich Klaasen, Quinton de Kock, Naveen-ul-Haq (overseas, Afghanistan), Marcus Stoinis (overseas, Australia), Dwaine Pretorius, Noor Ahmad (overseas, Afghanistan), Wiaan Mulder, Matthew Breetzke, Prenelan Subrayen, JJ Smuts, Junior Dala, Jason Smith, Bryce Parsons.

Apart from the retained players, teams also add to their squads via pre-signed players with Paarl Royals adding England's Joe Root, Durban's Super Giants roping in New Zealand's Kane Williamson and England's Chris Woakes to name a few. Here is a look at the pre-signed players list:
