SA20 Auction 2024 will be held by Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Wednesday (September 27) in Johannesburg where all the teams will be looking to strengthen their squad for the second edition.
A total of 257 players have registered their names for the auction, but only 21 slots will be available for teams to fill during the bidding process as franchise teams have already announced their pre-signed players.

All six teams have made strategic moves to bolster their squads, with high-profile overseas and key Protea players bringing their expertise to the second edition of the League set to take place in January 2024.
Apart from the normal auction process and filling the team with 19 players, this season also sees the introduction of wildcard and rookie player. Here are some important points to know about the SA20 Auction:
Each season teams are given a salary cap to spend on players. For season 2, the salary cap has been increased by R 5.1 million to R39.1 million per team.
Each team has 19 player slots in the final squad. Each team is allowed 1 Wildcard and need to sign 1 Rookie player in addition to the 17 players. Each team needs a minimum of 10 players from South Africa and is allowed a maximum of 7 overseas players.
A rookie means a South African player aged 22 or younger on the day of the auction and who is new to the Betway SA20 League.
Wildcard is a local or international player whose fee is excluded from the Salary Cap. The deadline for wildcard selection is the 30th of December.
257 players have registered their names, but not all may be drawn or called out during the bidding process as only a few slots are left to fill.
The season 2 acution will be shown live on SuperSport and on the official YouTube channel on 27 September from 4 PM Local Time.
While it was shown on multiple platforms in India last year, there is no channel that will show the auction in India. But fans can follow the SA20 season 2 auction by live streaming through SA20 YouTube channel or JioCinema app or website on Wednesday (September 27) from 7:30 PM IST.
