The SA20 Auction 2025 took place on Tuesday, October 1, with Pretoria Capitals making several strategic moves to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season in January 2025.
With R4.575 million remaining in their purse, the Capitals filled key gaps in their line-up ahead of SA20's start in January 2025.

Pretoria Capitals, who had three player slots, three overseas player slots, and one rookie slot available, invested in bolstering their batting department.
While the Capitals did not go all-out in the auction like teams such as the MI Cape Town, they were not afraid to utilise their remaining purse when it came to purchasing heavy hitters such as Evin Lewis. The Capitals secured Lewis’ signing for R1.5m, making him one of the most expensive SA20 2025 foreign signings after Richard Gleeson (Sunrisers Eastern Cape).

Going into Tuesday’s auction, the Pretoria Capitals had a thin squad compared to their opponents in the SA20 league. Despite having some overseas stars such as Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Liam Livingstone, most of their squad was made of local starlets such as Wayne Parnell and Rilee Rossouw.

With the inclusion of international star Lewis and first-class talent Ackerman, Pretoria Capitals are set to compete with a well-balanced squad. However, their squad still looks a bit on the lighter side compared to the other teams in the league, and it will have to be seen if the players in the team will make for a better finish than last season’s fifth-place end.
