Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has overtaken India captain Rohit Sharma in a prestigious list in their ongoing World Cup 2023 match against Sri Lanka.
Shakib Al Hasan has had a lean patch in the World Cup so far. But the Bangladesh batter has resurrected his form somewhat with an excellent batting display as he scored 82 off just 65 balls.

With this, Shakib now has 13 scores north of fifty runs in World Cups. The Bangladesh skipper has now also overtaken Indian captain Rohit Sharma, who has 12 50+ scores to his name. Former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara also has 12 scores more than fifty to his name.
Shakib's 13th 50+ score is the first for him in this edition. The Bangladesh skipper now has 11 fifties and 2 centuries in World Cup matches. Both of his World Cup centuries came in World Cup 2019 against England and West Indies respectively.
Only India duo Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli have more 50+ scores than Shakib in World Cups. Virat Kohli has breached fifty mark 14 times, while the legendary Sachin Tendulkar achieved the record 21 times in his career.
