Sachin goes down in ICC Test rankings; Ganguly out of top 20

Dubai, Jul 29 (UNI) The humiliating defeat in Colombo has taken its toll on the Indian batsmen with batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar going down one spot to 15th and Sourav Ganguly slipping out of the top 20 in the latest ICC Test players rankings.

While Rahul Dravid (19th) also went down a notch, stylish Hyderabad batsman VVS Laxman (18th) was the only Indian who saw an improvement in his rankings.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul was at the top spot, edging out Sri Lankan Kumar Sangakkara to the second position.

Among the bowlers, Test skipper Anil Kumble was the highest ranked Indian at the ninth spot.

Fellow Indians Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh were 16th and 18th respectively.

Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan, who claimed 19 wickets in the Colombo Test, held on to his pole position.

Injured South S African fast bowler Dale Steyn occupied the second spot.
