Sachin, Sourav bring change to Indian side: Mortaza
Chittagong, May 21 (UNI) The inclusion of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly has brought in a big change in the Indian team for the Test series against Bangladesh, feels rookie Bangladesh pacer Mashrafee Mortaza.
''Definitely when Sachin and Sourav are in the team, there is a big change,'' said Mortaza, talking to reporters after the fourth day's play of the first Test here today, when asked to compare the Indian ODI side with the Test side.
Mortaza is not disappointed at missing out on his first Test century, saying, ''No, I am not disappointed. The main thing is that my team has recovered a lot from the situation it was in.'' The young pacer said he was in with a chance to score a ton, but things turned difficult when Shahadat Hossain got out as the ninth batsman.
Mortaza feels that the match was still open. ''Till now it (the result) cannot be said as about 100 overs are yet to be bowled. The first task for us is to bowl well so that their run rate slows down,'' he said.
Mortaza may have rescued his team from the pits by his willow, but bowling is till his priority. ''As of now I want to concentrate more on bowling. I have to improve my bowling further. However, I will try batting as and when the team needs. In the nets also I try to bat well and try to give support to the team in batting as much as I can.'' Asked what coach Dav whatmore told them during the tea break, when the hosts were still 28 runs away from saving the follow on, Mortaza said, ''When I was coming out of the dressing room after tea, he (Whatmore) said 'make your fifty and save the team from follow-on'.'' Whether playing against India gives him any additional motivation to perform, Mortaza replied, ''I try to perform against all opponents.'' UNI
