Sachin Tendulkar honoured with MCC Membership amid IND vs AUS match in Melbourne

The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) has honoured India legend Sachin Tendulkar with a membership on Friday (December 27), amid the ongoing Test match between India and Australia.

Tendulkar, the former India batter, accepted the honorary membership on Friday and is the latest addition to MCC's list.

"An icon honoured. The MCC is pleased to announce that former Indian captain Sachin Tendulkar has accepted an Honorary Cricket Membership, acknowledging his outstanding contribution to the game," a statement from MCC read.

Sachin Tendulkar is an icon of the game. The India legend played 200 Tests, 463 ODIs and 1 T20I for India in a career encompassing 24 years. He is currently the highest scorer in international cricket in both ODI and Tests, with 18426 and 15921 runs respectively.

Sachin Tendulkar's honorary membership arrives amid the ongoing Test match between India and Australia. The iconic MCG ground is currently hosting the 4th Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy and the hosts are all over the visitors.

Australia amassed 474 runs in 1st innings with a hundred from Steve Smith and fifties from Sam Konstas, Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne. In reply, India are 164 for 5 at the end of Day 2 and are struggling big time. Captain Rohit Sharma faltered cheaply again with just 3 runs, while Yashasvi Jaiswal was unfortunately run out after scoring 82 runs. Virat Kohli's gritty outing also ended with the batter scoring 36 runs.
