'Never Do That' - Sachin Tendulkar sends Crucial Message to India's youth at Ramakant Achrekar Memorial Ceremony

At the unveiling of the Ramakant Achrekar Memorial at Shivaji Park, Sachin Tendulkar delivered an inspiring message to young cricketers, emphasizing the values instilled in him by his legendary coach.

Tendulkar, visibly moved by the occasion, shared his insights on discipline, respect, and the lessons that shaped his illustrious career. Reflecting on his early days under Achrekar Sir's guidance, Tendulkar highlighted a principle deeply rooted in his training - respect for one's cricket kit.

"Sir's vision was to teach us not just how to play cricket, but also how to respect the game and everything associated with it. One of his most important lessons was about respecting your cricket kit. I tell many players, even today, never throw your bat in frustration. Remember, you are sitting in the dressing room because of that bat, so never do that," Tendulkar said at the event, addressing the youngsters.

Tendulkar recalled Achrekar's strict but meaningful teachings, emphasizing that a player's equipment is not just a tool but a symbol of their journey in the sport.

"Many players come in, throw their bats, or mishandle their kit out of frustration. But you must understand that we are today is because of cricket. Always respect your kit. It has its place, and it should be treated with care and gratitude," he added.

He urged the young generation to carry forward the values imparted by their coach, ensuring the legacy of discipline and respect continues.

"This was Sir's training from childhood, and we have always carried it with us. It is now our responsibility to pass on his messages to the next generation," the India legend concluded.

The unveiling of the memorial was not just a tribute to Achrekar Sir's unparalleled contribution to Indian cricket but also a reminder of the life lessons he imparted, which shall be carried forward by his disciples.

Apart from Tendulkar, former India players Vinod Kambli, Sanjay Bangar were among the attendees. Maharashtra Navanirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray was also present at the event and jointly unveiled the memorial along with Sachin Tendulkar.
