Legendary Sachin Tendulkar's life-sized statute is all set to be unveiled by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday (November 1), a day ahead of India vs Sri Lanka ICC World Cup 2023 match.
Tendulkar, who holds multiple records in the game, had special memories of his home ground - the Wankhede Stadium, where he bid aideu to the game after his 200th and final Test in November 2013.

Nearly a decade later, the legend, who has a stand named after him at the venue, will now get a statute, which is dedicated to the 50 years of his life. He celebrated his 50th birthday in April this year.
The Master Blaster himself will be present for the unveiling function of the statue on November 1, when Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis will also be present alongside BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and BCCI Treasurer Ashish Shelar.
Apart from the aforementioned names, several other dignitaries including cricketers past and present are expected to grace the occasion in Mumbai on November 1. The 22-foot statue of Sachin Tendulkar hitting a straight-six has been sculpted by renowned painter-sculptor Pramod Kale.
Tendulkar played in 664 international matches across three formats, scoring 34,367 runs, including 100 hundreds (49 ODI and 51 Test centuries) and 164 fifties during his long career. Now, the legend gets a life-sized statute at his home.
It was revealed earlier this year that the statue of Tendulkar, who turned 50 in April, would be installed inside the stadium and finishing touches to the same were being given in Mumbai on Tuesday (October 31) as several Indian players hit nets at the Wankhede.
None of the top-order guns - captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill - were in attendance for the optional session, where the main focus remained on Shreyas Iyer, who has struggled against some short-pitched bowling.
Apart from Iyer's strenuous effort, all-rounder Shardul Thakur also had a long batting session while the others in Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul and Suryakumar had a regulation hit in the nets. All-rounders Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja did more batting practice than bowling.
