Sachin Tendulkar to Joe Root: Eleven Titans who belong to the Rare 150-Test Club

England international Joe Root, who is one of modern cricket's finest batters has added yet another feather to his illustrious career as he reached a monumental milestone in Test cricket.

Considered as one of the best batters in the purest format of the game, Joe Root made his mark by playing his 150th Test match, which came against New Zealand in the first Test at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.

In the process, he became only the eleventh player in history to achieve this remarkable feat. The 33-year-old's journey to this landmark has been nothing short of spectacular. Ever since making his debut against India in Nagpur in December 2012, he has become England's consistent run-scorer in the red-ball cricket.

With sublime batting technique and a calm head under pressure, he has often given the opposition teams a run for their money. Root has delivered in crucial moments, including the Ashes and England's resurgence under the "Bazball" era.

Root scored 2428 runs in 34 games in the Ashes at an average of 40.46, including 4 centuries and 18 fifties. He has already surpassed 12,754 runs in Test cricket at an average in excess of 50, laced with 35 centuries and 64 fifties, making him England's highest run-scorer.

The "God of Cricket", Sachin Tendulkar stands at the pinnacle with a staggering 200 Test matches. He scored 15,921 runs at an average of 53.8, including 51 centuries and 68 fifties. James Anderson comes second with 188 Tests.

The England's swing maestro who retired from cricket earlier this year, was the highest-capped fast bowler in Test cricket. He has taken 704 wickets in Tests including 32 fifers.

Ricky Ponting, who is one of the all-time greats, scored 13,378 runs in 168 Tests. Steve Waugh, who was the architect of Australia's dominance in the late 1990s and early 2000s also belongs to the elite club as he played 168 Tests. He scored 10,927 runs including 32 centuries and 50 fifties.

England's bowling great Stuart Broad who has played 167 Tests, picked up 604 wickets, including 20 fifers. Jacques Kallis who is undoubtedly the greatest all-rounder of all time comes next with 166 Test appearances. He scored 13,289 runs including 45 centuries and 58 fifties whereas he took 292 wickets including 5 fifers.

Shivnarine Chanderpaul has represented the West Indies cricket team in 164 Tests, scoring 11,867 runs, laced with 30 centuries and 66 fifties. India's batting maestro Rahul Dravid who played 164 Tests, scored 13,288 runs, including 36 centuries and 63 fifties.

Former England skipper Alastair Cook comes next as he played 161 Tests, scoring 12,472 runs, including 33 centuries and 57 fifties. Allan Border played 156 Tests in his career, wherein he scored 11,174 runs at an average of 50.6 including 27 centuries and 63 fifties.
