Sachin Tendulkar to world record holder Pranav Dhanawade: 'You need to scale new peaks'

Mumbai, Jan 5: Batting legend and former India captain Sachin Tendulkar today congratulated Mumbai schoolboy Pranav Dhanawade for becoming the first-ever batsman to score 1,000 runs in an innings.

On Tuesday (January 5), 15-year-old Pranav scored a mammoth 1009 not out for Smt KC Gandhi Higher Secondary School against Arya Gurukul School in HT Bhandari Cup inter-school Under-16 tournament organised by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

Pranav's epic knock from just 327 balls with 129 fours and 59 sixes, is the highest ever individual score in any form of cricket. He shattered a 116-year-old record. The whole world took notice of his marathon innings and his name was trending on Twitter.

Tendulkar was quick to congratulate the youngster from his city. He took to Twitter to write, "Congrats #PranavDhanawade on being the first ever to score 1000 runs in an innings. Well done and work hard. You need to scale new peaks!."

The right-handed opening batsman Pranav is a son of a auto rickshaw driver. He is currently studying in Class 10.
