Bengaluru, April 24: Social media was inundated with birthday wishes for batting legend and former India captain Sachin Tendulkar as "God of cricket" turned 44 today (April 24).

As is the case every year, fans started trending "HappyBirthdaySachin" since 12 midnight on the micro-blogging site Twitter. Tendulkar, born on April 24, 1973, has retired from the game but his fan following has never diminished. (Sachin movie trailer out)

Even today, Tendulkar is adored by his legion of supporters. Whenever he is seen at a cricket stadium, chants of "Sachin, Sachin, Sachin" reverberate.
Currently with IPL franchise Mumbai Indians (MI) as their "icon", Tendulkar is gearing up for the release of his movie "Sachin: A Billion Dreams", next month.
Holder of several records, Tendulkar brought joy to millions of fans and continues to do so. On the occasion of his 44th birthday, OneIndia joins his followers to wish him a very happy birthday.
Tendulkar, who played international cricket for 24 years (1989 to 2013), featured in a record 200 Tests and 463 One Day Internationals.
