Sachin to reply on BCCI notice
Mumbai, Apr 14 (UNI) India's batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar is likely to send a reply to the show cause notice of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expressing regret for his comments on former coach Greg Chappell.
Tendulkar will be replying to the BCCI show cause notice shortly, sources close to the Mumbai batsman said today.
However, media reports have said that Tendulkar has apologised to the BCCI for his outburst against Chappell in a national daily.
Reports said he had sent his reply after talking to Board President Sharad Pawar Yuvraj Singh, who had supported the master blaster's comments, was also issued a notice seeking an explanation. Reportedly, Yuvraj has also apologised after consulting selection panel chief Dilip Vengsarkar.
However, BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah has said the Board was yet to receive any reply from the two players.
''We have not received a reply till yesterday from Sachin and Yuvraj, He can not keep tracking the players 24 hours a day,'' he told UNI from Rajkot.
Tendulkar had criticised the coach for questioning his attitude in an interview after Team India's return to the country following their disastrous World Cup campaign.
Yuvraj had backed Tendulkar's views leading to a furore, which ended only after Chappell refused to extend his contract with the Indian team.
The two players were then issued show cause notices by the BCCI seeking an explanation for their outburst.
