Sachin Tendulkar felicitated for completing twenty years in cricket

Kolkata, Dec 23 (ANI): A local cricket club in Kolkata has felicitated master cricketer Sachin Tendulkar for completing twenty years in cricket.

Kolkata's Aryan Club felicitated Tendulkar in the presence of former captain Sourav Ganguly, and veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty.

Tendulkar, while addressing the gathering, recalled his matches at Kolkata city's famous Eden Gardens stadium, and said that playing with one lakh boisterous supporters cheering for the home team has always been a great experience.

"My cricket started here in 1990, the first match I played here at Eden gardens. It is, by far, the most spectacular ground, all across the world. It is a special place to play cricket. And whenever we played cricket here, it was a special moment for us. We all were looking forward to playing in Kolkata, in Eden Gardens, in front of 95-hundred thousand people; it was a treat" he said.

Ganguly also applauded Tendulkar's contribution to Indian cricket.

"I think he must be extremely happy to be where he is today, a part of the team which is the number one team in the world. And he has had probably made the biggest contribution. And from all of us here, we pray and we wish that you (Tendulkar) keep continuing this," Ganguly said.

Several other eminent personalities form various fields also marked their presence at the glittering ceremony.

Tendulkar recently scored an unbeaten 96 to set up India's seven-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the third one-day international on Monday.

Tendulkar, who played opener, shared in three half-century partnerships to help India chase their target of 240 in the day-night match in the eastern Indian city of Cuttack.

He has since become the highest test scorer, with 12,777 runs as well as scoring the most test centuries (42). He recently joined a list of 15 players whose international careers have spanned more than 20 years. (ANI)
