Saint Lucia Kings Clinch First CPL Title: A Historic Win for Franchise Owner Preity Zinta

They say good things come to those who wait, and it looks like Bollywood star Preity Zinta just hit the jackpot! In a nail-biting showdown at the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024, the Saint Lucia Kings hit it out of the park, snagging their first-ever title in a match that had cricket fans on the edge of their seats!

This monumental victory didn’t just add a shiny new trophy to their cabinet; it also marked a significant milestone for Bollywood star and savvy entrepreneur Preity Zinta, who was all smiles as she toasted to her inaugural triumph as the franchise owner.

A Breakthrough Moment for the Saint Lucia Kings

After years of coming close to glory, the Saint Lucia Kings rose to the occasion and delivered an unforgettable performance in the 2024 CPL final. The team, known for its exciting brand of cricket, brought together strategic bowling and fearless batting, pulling off a stunning win against formidable opposition.

The final clash saw dynamic contributions from captain Faf du Plessis, Roston Chase, and the fast-bowling might of Alzarri Joseph, all aligning perfectly to bring home the coveted trophy.

The Kings had flirted with success in previous seasons but had never quite captured the crown until now. This year, they played with a sense of determination that matched their hunger for victory, a fire evident throughout the tournament.

Preity Zinta’s Joyful Milestone

For Preity Zinta, this win represents more than just a trophy; it is the culmination of her deep investment—emotionally and financially—into the world of cricket.

Zinta, who bought a stake in the Saint Lucia Kings in 2021, had envisioned building a competitive franchise capable of championship success.

Her involvement with cricket isn’t new—she co-owns the IPL team Punjab Kings—but this CPL win stands out as her first major trophy as a franchise owner.

Faf Du Plessis: The Captain Speaks

After the big win, SLK skipper Faf du Plessis took a moment to bask in the glory. “We have been really consistent throughout the league stage, and I believe the two best teams played in the final.

"We always believed in the depth of the squad and credit to Roston and Aaron for absorbing the pressure and stepping up in the final when needed,” he said (via Live Mint). Well, that’s a captain who knows how to rally the troops!

Faf continued, “It takes a special team performance to come here to their home ground and beat them twice. I am extremely proud of the team for showing grit throughout the tournament and getting the job done.

"There was an excitement at the start of the competition in St Lucia about is this gonna be the season. First CPL trophy and it is a great achievement.” Clearly, Faf isn’t just a cricket brain; he’s got a flair for drama too!

Crafting a Winning Team

The rise of the Saint Lucia Kings under Zinta's ownership is a story of ambition and vision. Known for her high-energy presence, Zinta has played a pivotal role in shaping the team’s identity.

Since taking over, she has been instrumental in recruitment strategies and has ensured the management builds a strong, balanced squad. Her experience with the IPL's Punjab Kings equipped her with the knowledge and networks needed to assemble a CPL side capable of competing at the highest level.

Bringing in veteran players like Faf du Plessis, who led with poise and aggression, and nurturing young Caribbean talents, Zinta and her team management struck the right chord this season.
