Samit Dravid dropped by Mysore Warriors in two back-to-back matches after being named in India U-19 squad

Samit Dravid was dropped four times in succession including twice after being named in India U-19 squad for multi-format series against Australia, in the Maharaja Trophy T20 2024.

Mysore Warriors dropped Samit, the son of former India captain and coach Rahul Dravid, for their last two league stage matches, the semi-final and the final against Bengaluru Blasters.

Captain Karun Nair, and the Mysore Warriors management took the decision after a series of low scores from the 18-year-old. After scoring an impressive 33 off 24 against Gulbarga Mystics, he registered scores of 2, 12 and 5.

Overall, the right-hand batter scored 82 runs from eight matches at an average of 11.71, and a strike rate of 113.88. He smashed nine fours and three sixes. Samit Dravid was bought for Rs 50,000 in the Maharaja Trophy auction.

Samit Dravid picked in India U-19 squad on back of impressive domestic performances

He scored 362 runs including three fifties in eight matches in the U19 Cooch Behar Trophy for Karnataka. He also picked 16 wickets to help Karnataka beat Mumbai in the final which saw him pick two wickets with his medium pace bowling and score 22 runs while batting at number five. In the U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy, Samit scored 122 runs in four innings with a highest score of 87.

"First of all, I am very happy to be selected and thank you for all your wishes. I think I am feeling great, I worked very hard for this moment,” Samit Dravid said while reacting to his selection in a video posted by Star Sports Kannada on X.
