Samson, Kishan, Pandya and Bumrah Named in T20 World Cup 2026 Team of the Tournament

India's dominant ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 campaign has been reflected in the official Team of the Tournament, with four Indian players named in the prestigious XI after the hosts lifted the title in Ahmedabad.

India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the final to successfully defend the trophy, becoming the first team to win back-to-back T20 World Cups and the first to claim three titles in the tournament's history.

Following the conclusion of the month-long event, the ICC unveiled its Team of the Tournament, selected by a panel that included Ian Bishop, Eoin Morgan, Natalie Germanos, ICC representative Gaurav Saxena and Sri Lankan journalist Rex Clementine.

While the XI features standout performers from across the competition, India's dominance is evident with Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah all making the cut.

Sanju Samson headlines after T20 World Cup campaign

Sanju Samson was one of the biggest success stories of the tournament and was rewarded with both the Player of the Tournament award and a place in the Team of the Tournament.

The wicketkeeper-batter finished with 321 runs in just five matches at an average of 80.25 and a staggering strike rate of nearly 200.

Samson came into the side midway through the tournament but delivered when it mattered most. His unbeaten 97 against West Indies kept India alive in the Super Eight stage before he produced match-defining knocks of 89 against England in the semi-final and another 89 in the final against New Zealand.

His consistency at the business end of the tournament made him one of the defining figures of India's title-winning campaign.

Ishan Kishan's redemption arc earns place in the XI

Another Indian batter who made the cut was Ishan Kishan, whose aggressive approach at the top of the order played a crucial role throughout the tournament.

Kishan scored 317 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of over 193, including three half-centuries. One of his most memorable innings came against Pakistan, where he smashed 77 off 40 balls after India lost an early wicket.

The left-hander also played a key role in the final, scoring a rapid 54 and producing two spectacular catches in the field to remove Rachin Ravindra and Tim Seifert.

After spending nearly two years on the fringes of the national side, Kishan's performances marked one of the tournament's biggest comeback stories.

Hardik Pandya's all-round brilliance continues

Hardik Pandya was once again central to India's success, earning a spot in the all-rounder's role in the Team of the Tournament.

Pandya scored 217 runs at a strike rate of over 160 while also picking up nine wickets with the ball.

His contributions came at crucial moments. A blistering 50 off 23 balls against Zimbabwe powered India to one of the highest totals of the tournament, while his new-ball spell against Pakistan - including the dismissal of top scorer Sahibzada Farhan - proved decisive in a key group-stage clash.

Pandya's ability to influence games with both bat and ball made him one of India's most valuable players throughout the campaign.

Jasprit Bumrah anchors the bowling attack

No Indian player symbolised the team's dominance more than Jasprit Bumrah.

The pacer finished with 14 wickets in eight matches at a remarkable average of 12.42 and an economy rate of just 6.21. He was also named Player of the Match in the final after a devastating spell of 4/15 that dismantled New Zealand's chase.

Beyond the wickets, Bumrah's ability to control the game during pressure overs made him one of the most influential bowlers in the tournament. His disciplined spell in the semi-final against England - particularly a tight 18th over in a high-scoring contest - proved equally crucial.

Other stars who made the Team of the Tournament

The rest of the XI featured standout performers from other nations who left a major mark on the competition.

Pakistan opener Sahibzada Farhan earned selection after finishing as the tournament's highest run-scorer with 383 runs, including two centuries. South Africa captain Aiden Markram also made the side after leading his team to an unbeaten run before their semi-final exit.

England all-rounder Will Jacks, West Indies' Jason Holder, South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi, England leg-spinner Adil Rashid and Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani completed the XI.

USA pacer Shadley Van Schalkwyk was named the 12th man after an impressive group-stage campaign that included a four-wicket haul against India.
