Sanjiv Goenka Owned RPSG Set To Build New State-Of-The Art Facility Near Old Trafford

Sanjiv Goenka-owned RPSG group is set to build a high-performance centre near the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. A deal has been brokered between RPSG and Lancashire County Cricket Club, which led to the acquisition of a piece of land behind the OT, where a state-of-the-art facility will be built.

Goenka, who has already invested heavily in IPL, owns a 70 per cent share in the local franchise (Manchester Super Giants) which competes in The Hundred organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). The franchise currently sits in second place in the points table, having one win and one loss.

This is about leaving a lasting legacy for cricket in this region - a facility that will shape the development of players for generations to come," the RPSG owner, Sanjiv Goenka, said in a statement.

How Will The New Project Help?

As part of the deal, the new project will see the revamping of the existing indoor nets, gym, outdoor training areas and sports science and medical facilities. The project will also create elite training facilities benefiting all teams under the RPSG Group, including the Lucknow Super Giants, Manchester Super Giants and Durban's Super Giants.

Interestingly, the facility will also be open to international sides who will be touring England and will be playing at Old Trafford.

As per the official statement, the project is a cornerstone of RPSG and Lancashire Cricket's long-term strategy to establish state-of-the-art cricket facilities at Old Trafford, complemented by the AO Farington Cricket Ground, ensuring every Red Rose team is equipped for sustained on-field success.
