Sanju Samson has made a compelling case for his inclusion in India's Test squad after a stellar performance in the ongoing Duleep Trophy. Playing for India D, Samson scored a brilliant 106 runs off just 94 balls against India B in Anantapur, showcasing his potential to contribute to the Indian Test setup.
His innings was laced with 11 fours and 3 sixes, a testament to his aggressive yet calculated approach under pressure. Samson's century comes at a crucial time as India faces challenges in their Test batting lineup.

During the concurrent Test series between India and Bangladesh, several key players, including KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, have struggled to find form. Rahul managed only 16 runs before being dismissed early in the Chennai Test, while Iyer has been woefully out of touch, recording two ducks in his last three Duleep Trophy innings.
Samson, on the other hand, took full advantage of his opportunity. After being excluded from the first round of the Duleep Trophy, Samson was added as a replacement for Ishan Kishan. He struggled in his first innings of the tournament, scoring just 5 runs, but bounced back in style.
Batting at a team score of 175/5, following the dismissals of experienced players like Iyer and Shreyas Jain, Samson helped stabilize the innings and propelled India D past the 300-run mark. Facing a bowling attack that included seasoned Indian internationals like Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini, Washington Sundar, and Rahul Chahar, Samson displayed his class.
He particularly dominated Saini and Sundar, smashing 55 runs off just 36 deliveries from them, before eventually falling to Saini. By that point, he had already guided his team to a commanding position. Samson's century, his 11th in first-class cricket, has reignited the conversation about his place in India's Test squad.
Despite having played 16 ODIs and 30 T20Is for India since his debut in 2015, Samson has often found himself on the fringes, overshadowed by wicketkeeper-batters like Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul.
However, with consistent performances in domestic cricket, he may finally force his way into the Test side, especially with India set to announce their squad for the second Test against Bangladesh and the upcoming series against New Zealand.
