South Africa legend AB de Villiers has expressed his admiration for Indian wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson after his scintillating century against the Proteas in the T20I match on Friday.

De Villiers believes Samson should be a part of India's squad across all formats. Recently, Samson has been in exceptional form, scoring centuries in consecutive T20I matches. His recent performances have caught the attention of cricket enthusiasts worldwide.

Samson's remarkable purple patch in T20Is started with a 111-run knock against Bangladesh in Hyderabad last month. He followed this with another century, scoring 107 runs from 50 balls against South Africa at Kingsmead, thus becoming the first Indian to score consecutive T20I centuries.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, De Villiers praised Samson's ability to adapt and perform across all formats of the game.

"Sanju has upped the gear in his game. I hope the selectors are watching this for all the formats. I want to see this guy play all the formats. I think he is someone who is really, really special, someone who can play all the formats in all conditions around the world. Something has clicked in the Sanju Samson world; whether it's the coaching staff, I doubt it," he said.

De Villiers also hopes that selectors are taking note of Samson's capabilities across all formats. He emphasised that Samson is a unique talent capable of thriving in diverse conditions.

De Villiers further commented on Samson's growth as a player saying that Samson has reached a new level of maturity. The former Proteas captain also shared his personal admiration for Samson.

"I am incredibly proud of the guy. I say proud because I do have a personal connection with him. We have been in touch for a number of years now. I have always been a big fan of Sanju Samson; I just love the way he plays, and I always want him to do well," the South African added.
