Sanju Samson's elder brother Saly Viswanath Samson has been roped in by Kochi Blue Tigers in the Kerala Cricket League Season 2 auction on Saturday (July 5).
Saly, who is a year older than his younger brother Sanju, is an all-rounder who has represented many teams, such as Kerala, in domestic circuits and also played for teams such as KCA Royals, Wayanad and more.

In the KCL 2025 auction, Saly was bought by Kochi Blue Tigers at his base price of Rs 75 thousand. The 32-year-old will be hoping to make a strong mark alongside his brother, who is likely to captain the Blue Tigers in the second season of the competition. Saly was part of the Blue Tigers squad in the inaugural season as well.
Sanju Samson has shattered records at the KCL auction, becoming the highest-paid player in the tournament's history. The star wicketkeeper-batter was at the centre of a fierce bidding war before being snapped up by Kochi Blue Tigers for an eye-watering sum of Rs 26.80 lakh.
Samson, who did not feature in the inaugural edition of the KCL, now joins the tournament with huge expectations. Known for his prowess in the T20 format and as captain of the IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals, his addition is set to significantly elevate the league's profile The Kochi-based franchise, which opted not to retain any player from last season, aggressively pursued Samson's signature. They ultimately outbid Thrissur Titans in a tense auction battle, allocating a staggering 53.6% of their total Rs 50 lakh purse to secure him.
Sanju and Saly were both born in Pulluvila, a village at the outskirts of the Trivandrum district in Kerala.
