Unless such an agreement materialises, both CSK and KKR remain speculative suitors rather than front-runners.

"If he[Sanju Samson] is in the market, then everybody will have a chance to buy him in the auction. There are no such teams that are ahead in the race for Sanju," a source told MyKhel.

Samson has been with Rajasthan Royals since 2013 (barring a stint with Delhi in 2016-17) and has captained the side since 2021. Under his leadership, the Royals reached the IPL 2022 final and have been consistent playoff contenders. The IPL 2025 resulted in a disaster for the Royals, as they finished 9th in the table. Although the murmurs surrounding Samson suggest he may leave the franchise, it is far from being sealed and confirmed.

What makes the situation especially fluid is the lack of any formal trade proceedings thus far. Despite the interest, no franchise has entered advanced talks to bring in Samson, nor have the Rajasthan Royals officially opened up to letting go of their captain.
